Montechristien Gargamel was one of the most prolific serial killers ever. He performed horrible experiments on his victims, studying the effects of different chemical concoctions and medical procedures on his victims, documenting them in great detail. To add to the horror, he raised his children to follow in his footsteps, indoctrinating them in his horrors. The two most apt of his children were Francescu and Sophie, the others not having either the disposition or the stomach for the worst of what he had to show them. By the time her father was arrested and tried, Sophie knew far, far too much about the working innards of humans and animals alike, and how to make them stop working, and that didn't hold a candle to what her brother had absorbed. Gargamel got 13 consecutive life sentences without possibility of parole, and his children got substantial trust funds.

Things didn't get much better for them, though. As the two most obviously damaged of the siblings, the ones whose names and voices appeared on their father's dictation tapes, Francescu and Sophie were put in the custody of their uncle, who promptly removed them from the limelight in the UK. Their other siblings were essentially put into witness protection, disappearing from the public eye forever. Though they were kept together, they were thrown from one fire promptly into another, as it turned out that their uncle had some terrible sexual proclivities. Sophie was his main target, at first by accident and then on purpose, as she made it her duty to protect her elder brother from her uncle's advances. They bounced around from school to school, making excellent grades but having a great deal of trouble with their peers. Both Gargamels were, unsurprisingly, prone to violence, and only became moreso as they got older and their classmates questions and attitudes got more pointed. Francescu's sociopathic tendencies were well documented, and his sister's disturbing behavior wasn't much better, although she was better at faking social niceties.

A little less than a year before coming to Bullworth, things went really wrong. Sophie and Francescu's careful planning to never leave him alone with their uncle failed, and he was assaulted. Sophie, who had sworn to her uncle years and years before that she would kill him if he ever touched Francescu, tried to make good on that promise. She nearly managed it, and likely would have succeeded if she hadn't been slashed in the process, necessitating Francescu calling 911. While Sophie recovered, Francescu finished the job, poisoning their uncle with one of their father's untraceable slow-acting poisons.

There's fic of the Gargamel backstory here, but it's an invite only gdoc because it involves really horrible things, including pedophilia and the vivisection of a dog.

They were sent to Bullworth for Sophie's sophomore and Francescu's junior year. After fighting their way to the top of the food chain in an orgy of overzealous violence, they reside there fairly happily. Sophie made serious enemies of the jocks, and routinely gets into fights with them in the halls between classes. She pretty much always wins. Most people aren't stupid enough to pick fights with Francescu, who is far less likely to stop hitting when someone goes down.

Sophie Gargamel has made herself into something like a force of nature. She's pretty, smart, strong, and ruthless, and has exactly zero qualms about using that to suit her own ends. She spent her younger years being indoctrinated by a serial killer who happened to be her father, and her less young years working to maintain the interest of her pedophiliac uncle in order to protect her brother from his attentions. There's basically no innocence left in her, although she's more capable of emotion and empathy than her brother is. Before Bullworth, the only person Sophie loved in the whole world was her brother, and the circle hasn't widened much since then.

Sophie has a reputation for being ruthless, violent, and a slut. Two out of three are accurate, the other is semi-accurate. There are likely a fair number of people Sophie is having or is willing to have sex with. She chooses them more carefully than people think. Very carefully, in fact. She cultivated this reputation on purpose. People believe that she chooses to go demand random sexy makeouts instead of drinking soda like a mere mortal. Actually, she has to. Being an NPC is an enormous vulnerability. Despite the lack of focus on academics, Sophie attends most of her classes, actually does her homework, and is making excellent grades. This is partially because Francescu expects it, partially because she demands it of herself, and partially because it really pisses people off.

It is a terrible idea to ask about her family, especially her father. She will knock your teeth out. She's extremely protective of what's hers. Right now that's Fran and Tiny and Pell, but this circle is definitely subject to widen. She is much better at the spectrum of human emotions than Fran, although she is very, very rarely gentle. Despite the lofty social position of the Gargamel siblings, Sophie is very much a target for violence, because people don't learn at Bullworth. She doesn't mind. In fact, she likes it that way.

miscellaneous.

appearance: Sophie's still small, maybe 5'2" in her shoes, but this version is well-fed and thus pretty sleekly muscled. A Sophie with breasts, zomg! She's grown up in a succession of hoity prep schools and been in lots of extracurriculars, including gymnastics and fencing and martial arts, so she's very fit and flexible. She takes a fair bit of care with her appearance, and is almost always wearing red lipstick and usually eye makeup. Her uniform is mostly standard except for how short her skirt is and the fact that she wears it with a wide leather belt and keeps the lapels closed with a big safety pin instead of buttoning it. Usually she's wearing a very non-standard brightly colored bra or tanktop beneath the white button-down shirt. She has a large, fairly recent scar that runs diagonally across her chest, from over one breast to the bottom of her ribcage.

Sophie is from England and speaks with a crisp if slightly diluted accent--she's lived in the US for half her life, but she (and her brother) maintain their accents.

dorm: Sophie and Lady live in Attic 2 of the girls' dormitory. The attic rooms are rumored to be haunted by the ghost of some chick who died up there. They aren't, but Lady and Sophie like living there because nobody bothers them and they don't have to deal with insufferable cheerleaders. (if Violet Baudelaire joins, she lives in the attic as well.)

established CR:
Francescu: the Gargamel siblings operate behind a unified wall of codependence. They're most fully human with each other. They protect each other, although they don't necessarily fight the other's battles unless it's apparent they aren't winning. Attempting to befriend one Gargamel generally requires the approval of the other.

Tiny: after Francescu, Tiny is the most important person to Sophie at Bullworth. By all appearances Tiny is another one of Sophie's 'boys', but actually Tiny and Sophie have come to an understanding and are very close. She knows his real name and has seen him with his sunglasses off, he gets to see the person behind the razorblade smile and can touch Sophie whenever without having to worry about getting punched. It's not codependence on the level she has with her brother, but if one of them is in trouble, the other one is likely very close behind. This is not obvious to the casual observer at all.

Pell: Sophie met Pell by breaking the fingers of a trick with an attitude problem. She's still not sure why exactly it is she looks after him, other than that Pell doesn't really belong there, even if he fits right in. Plus, he can do amazing things with her hair.

Lady: Lady and Sophie came to an understanding early on in Sophie's tenure at Bullworth, and that understanding was that they both hated cheerleaders and enjoyed both violence and privacy. Despite her name, Lady is King of the car yard (her bazooka, Kalina Ann, is the Queen), and thus she falls under the category of one of Sophie's 'boys'. Sophie is one of her 'boys' too, so it's only fair.
